Hello, we’re Melissa and Joey and we are MJ Photography & DJ! We are a Husband & Wife business stationed in Durham, Connecticut providing Photography, DJ, Photo Booths and lighting all over New England.After meeting each other in 2014 in the wedding & event industry, we opened MJ Photography & DJ in 2015. Together, we built our business to provide you and your guests with a professional, personal, one-on-one experience with our passions and expertise in Wedding & Event Photography and DJ.What makes us unique? At MJ Photography & DJ, we have a mission to make the day you’ve been dreaming about, a reality. No matter how big or how small, if it’s a wedding or event, we do this by meeting with you and getting to know you, your story, and your expectations. Our flexibility, reliability, and continuing years of expertise will guarantee your big day to be everything you’ve dreamed it to be.

I have been in the industry for over 6 years performing as a DJ personality all around New England. At the age of 16 I started out as a live DJ personality in training under the guidance of my dad (Joe Sr.), which was another area DJ performing at numerous entertainment hot-spots with-in Connecticut. In collaboration with me working with other area DJs as well, I have mastered the art of music mixing with a vast music library from oldies to current hits and have perfected my hosting skills to interact with my audience and read a diverse crowd. I have DJ’d over 300 events including high-profile Weddings, Corporate Events, Sweet 16's, Mitzvahs, Quinceaneras, Proms, Fashion Shows, and countless private events! I take the time to get to know my clients, their likes and dis-likes which allows me to customize the musical experience to their taste. I have a passion for music and entertaining, and I strive to produce a packed dance floor and a party you and your guests will never forget!


What am I doing when I’m not DJing?


As an information technology and industrial electronics major, I work as a Network Operations Center Manager monitoring IT infrastructure and managing engineering teams. When I’m not working, you can find me coaching CT Special Olympics, working out, or spending time with family.

Hi There!

I'm Melissa, Co-Owner,

Photography to me is being able to freeze time in a moment you want to remember forever. Growing up my mother always had one of those disposable film cameras in hand. She took countless photos of every moment in our lives and now I have the privilege of being able to look through those images and remember the amazing time I've had growing up. Having this opportunity has taught me that every moment is to be cherished and that photography is what I want to pursue. Being able to attend New Hampshire Institute of Art has helped my mind expand on creativity. Starting off at the very beginning and learning Film photography and the darkroom process all the way up to learning how to start our own business. Four years later I graduated college with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography.

My passion for Photography has grown with every shoot I do, whether its a Wedding or a family portrait session. My style of photography is to capture the little moments which develop your story. My images are honest, intimate and original.

My Favorite thing to capture is the second after my couples pull away from their first kiss. That right there is the most genuine smile and the purest, happiest moment.

When i'm not out photographing I enjoy spending time with my Family, Cooking, Shopping for art supplies, Crafting, Helping out with animal/ wildlife rescues, Creating a Homestead, gardening and trying new things.
